Stair Runner Makeover Challenge — Official Rules
Stair Runner Makeover Challenge
Official Rules & Regulations — Effective June 2026
1. Sponsor
The Stair Runner Makeover Challenge (the “Challenge”) is sponsored by Direct Carpet Inc., operating as DirectCarpet.com, based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (“Direct Carpet” or “Sponsor”).
2. Nature of the Challenge
This is a skill-based challenge, not a lottery or sweepstakes. Entry requires the purchase of a stair runner from DirectCarpet.com and the successful installation and photographic documentation of that runner. Winners are selected based on the quality and clarity of submitted content as judged by the Sponsor. No element of chance determines the winner.
3. Eligibility
- Open to legal residents of the United States, 18 years of age or older at time of entry.
- Employees, officers, directors, and immediate family members of Direct Carpet Inc. are not eligible.
- Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
- Purchase of a Direct Carpet stair runner from DirectCarpet.com is required to enter. Because this is a skill-based challenge judged on the quality of the entrant’s installation, no alternative free method of entry is available.
4. Challenge Period
The Challenge runs on a continuous quarterly basis. A new winner is selected every 90 days. The Sponsor reserves the right to modify the selection schedule with reasonable notice. The Challenge continues until terminated by the Sponsor.
5. How to Enter
To enter, an eligible participant must complete all of the following steps:
- Step 1: Purchase a stair runner from DirectCarpet.com.
- Step 2: Install the stair runner on your staircase.
- Step 3: Photograph your staircase before installation (the “Before” photo).
- Step 4: Photograph your completed installation (the “After” photo). Both photos must clearly show the same staircase.
- Step 5: Submit both photos via the review link at DirectCarpet.com/pages/stair-runner-makeover-challenge. Video of the installation earns additional consideration but is not required.
Only one entry per order. Submissions must be the entrant’s own original photography of their own installation using a stair runner purchased from DirectCarpet.com.
6. Judging Criteria
Entries are evaluated by Keith Shannon, founder of Direct Carpet, based on the following criteria:
- Transformation quality — the visual impact of the before and after comparison
- Photo clarity — clear, well-lit images that clearly show the transformation
- Installation quality — the appearance of a clean, professional-looking result
- Video bonus — submission of installation video earns additional consideration
The Sponsor’s judging decisions are final and binding.
7. Prize
- One winner selected per 90-day period.
- Prize: A refund of the winner’s stair runner purchase price from DirectCarpet.com, up to a maximum of $1,000 USD. The winner retains their stair runner.
- No cash alternative, transfer, or substitution of prize is permitted except at the Sponsor’s sole discretion.
8. Winner Notification & Acceptance
- The winner will be notified by email within 14 days of selection.
- The winner must respond within 14 days. Failure to respond forfeits the prize.
- The winner may be required to sign a declaration of eligibility and publicity release as a condition of receiving the prize.
