Installed runner over retro treads. Installation was super easy after watching the videos. Got everything installed in a few hours on a Sunday afternoon.

The runner is beautiful. I wanted something to update our stairwell with a modern coastal vibe and it is the perfect addition without having to replace the treads and risers. Quality is top notch. Installation was straightforward- watch the tutorials provided as they’re super helpful! Will definitely be ordering from here again.

Love how this turned out! It’s a really subtle neutral herringbone that adds some texture without feeling busy. Install was a breeze (even 7 months pregnant)! I wrote about it more on my blog https://overconsidered.wordpress.com/2026/09/23/i-installed-my-own-stair-runner-heres-exactly-how-i-did-it/
I’d absolutely recommend this!

Great job ten thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Customer service was excellent, shipping was quick, and the carpet quality is impressive. We made a mistake and cut a section incorrectly. Keith messaged to ask for photos to see whether the piece might be saved before I ordered a replacement. Although it could not be salvaged, I truly appreciated the offer. I would highly recommend this company. This was a dreaded chore hanging over my head, but ordering was easy and stress-free. I absolutely love my stairs; they are soft and comfortable to walk on. Thank you!!!

Our dog wouldn't go down our smooth stairs to join us in the basement, too scary! But the new runner changes everything, and looks great. I followed the videos on the site and rented tools to get it done. You can do it to!

We had two different width staircases, but direct carpet made it as simple as possible to install. We had a hiccup, or two, but got through the project and are happy with the final result!
Store owner replied:
Sheridan, what a fantastic job on your stair runner and a perfect showcase on how we love to see the progress and the DIY factor. This is a 10 out of 10. Knock it out of the park 10 thumbs up fantastic job. Congratulations.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love the new runner! The pad underneath makes it feel so soft.
We ordered two 18' runners because we have tall ceilings (more steps) and wanted the carpet to extend straight onto the landing. They arrived pretty quickly. Installation went well, and we are very happy with our purchase.
Store owner replied:
Martha wow your stair runner looks amazing 🤩fantastic 🥳🥳🥳ten thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Super easy to install—the YouTube videos are super helpful. Love the color and herringbone design. Really adds to our space!!
Would absolutely recommend!
I don't usually write reviews but this company deserves their flowers. I'm so glad I found them after a local carpet company quoted me 5k and most other website offered standard sizes and no instructions. They really made the ordering/install easy and straight forward. I was a little nervous about my DIY skills but the videos and tools were so helpful. It is very comfortable and makes the new hardwood steps safer for my dog. I'm so happy with how it turned out and brought the whole house together!

The customer service was amazing from start to finish. The owner was incredibly helpful, responsive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the process.
The carpet itself is absolutely beautiful. The pattern, texture, and colors exceeded my expectations, and I couldn’t be happier with how it looks in our home.
My only concern is the amount of wear I’ve noticed after only about a month of installation. I expected some wear over time, especially since our stairs are a high-traffic area, but I didn’t anticipate it becoming noticeable this quickly. In hindsight, I’m wondering if there were preventative measures I should have taken from the beginning, because it has me a little concerned about its long-term durability. We vacuum the stairs every other week, and we’re planning to give them a thorough cleaning to see if that helps.
Overall, I still love the look of the carpet and truly appreciate the excellent customer service. I just wanted to share my experience regarding the early wear in case it’s helpful for others with high-traffic areas or if there are maintenance recommendations that could help preserve its appearance.

The videos were great! Keith was very helpful in answering a few questions via text. Got it done in less than 3 hours. Our 9 year old chocolate lab loves the runner much more than the bare wood which is why we did it in the first place!
Store owner replied:
Scott what a fantastic job you did on your stair runner 🥳 it looks Amazing 🤩 congratulations/ I love the fact that you took time to take a picture of the actual installation and I love that your chocolate lab now has a safe surface to run up and down😎ten thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I absolutely love our new stair carpet and the process with Direct Carpet. After I ordered my carpet, a rep reached out to my to recommend a longer length based on my stair count. I was pretty confident in my measurements so I declined, but they sent me the extra length free of charge anyway to make sure I had enough. I really appreciated them going above and beyond to ensure I had the best experience possible. The carpet looks great and is extremely comfortable under foot. We hired a handyman to put it in for us and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
Store owner replied:
Josiah fantastic 🥳🥳🥳 great work 😊 Ten thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wow! This company and Keith are top notch. This was such a great find for my husband who prefers to do all the work himself. First time installing a carpet stair runner and Keith prepared us and it turned out amazing!!! He is so prompt with responding and just a breeze to work with. Coming from Canada to Texas, fast shipping as well. Highly recommend!!

Keith, You know how the saying goes “happy wife, happy life” ! We can not be more pleased with our new herringbone stair runner, and more impressed with your business. I will definitely be recommending Direct Carpet to everyone that I know !
After looking locally at what was available for stair runners, we decided on Direct Carpet for their beautiful, quality carpet selections, reasonable pricing, included underpad, and free shipping. We ordered the stair runner on a Monday, received a text message that evening requesting some pictures and information about our staircase, the runner was shipped on Tuesday and we received it on Wednesday ! I considered hiring an installer, but after watching a few of Keith’s well done and entertaining installation videos, I decided to install the runner myself. It turned out great, only took a few hours, looks fabulous and we wish we had done it sooner. My wife loves it so much that she stops to admire it every time that she passes by ! Thanks again !

Wow Janet that’s so nice of you to say 😊 and may I say wow what a fantastic stair runner installation 🥳🥳🥳🥳 great job Ten thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ended up perfect for our home! Made the stairs 1000% better, we were all slipping down the stairs prior to carpet. My husband installed it in about 4 hours with minimal help from me. We have no experience with carpet installation but the videos explained it thoroughly so we did EXACTLY as he did and had no issues. It made the stairs very comfortable to run up and down without shoes. My kids play safely on the stairs now. We are almost two months w/new carpet , it’s been a muddy spring with one teen + friends, 2 young kids, 4 dogs and general farm life and the carpet is showing no dirt or wear yet. It fit the aesthetic so perfectly!

From the samples to the finished product, Direct Carpet is a 10/10. We ordered 1 ft more than our measurements indicated and we were left with about 3 inches of scrap at the very end. The installation videos offered fantastic advice that helped make our installation process really smooth. The hardest part was getting started on the runner but once we got the hang of it, and watched the videos about 5 more times, it was fairly simple. The carpet and pad are very high quality, and I anticipate that this runner will last us a very long time.

Super pleased with how our stairs turned out! It was difficult finding a source for two different stair widths in a pattern we liked, but your product fit the bill! Also very happy with the quality of the carpeting. I was worried that my dogs’ nails would snag the carpeting, but it hasn’t. Great product!

We ordered 5 samples. Definitely recommend ordering the samples, the colors appeared so different with our staircase. I was positive we would be ordering the “cork” color and then when we got the samples we realized the “basket” color was much more what I wanted. Seller is super communicative and shipped very very quickly.
I really appreciated the opportunity to have a selection of samples to make sure we chose the best look for our stairs. Having the samples and getting them to spend the weekend to see them in different lighting helped us select our top choice!
I ordered samples then choose which product I wanted. I ordered two stairs runners for my home. They came so quickly and I was able to install them that weekend. I would highly recommend your company.
